Google Analytics
Combine GEO data with GA4 insights.
The Genlytic Google Analytics integration connects your GA4 property to surface scan activity as annotations and identify AI-driven traffic in your analytics data.
Requirements
GA4 only. Universal Analytics (UA) is not supported.
What the integration does
- Scan annotations — Genlytic scan dates appear as annotations in your GA4 data streams, letting you correlate visibility changes with traffic movements
- AI traffic attribution — Genlytic provides a referral domain list (perplexity.ai, chatgpt.com, and others) so you can identify sessions arriving from AI search engines in your GA4 reports
Setup
In Google Analytics, go to Admin → Property Settings. Your Property ID is displayed at the top (format: 123456789).
Go to Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics. Enter your GA4 Property ID and click Connect.
Grant Genlytic read access to your GA4 property. Genlytic uses the Google Analytics Data API to write annotations. You will be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen.
In the integration settings, enable AI Referral Attribution. Genlytic will add its referral domain list to your GA4 configuration so AI traffic appears as a labeled channel.
Scan annotations
After each scan batch completes, Genlytic creates an annotation in GA4 with the scan date and a link to the results. Annotations appear in the GA4 Explorations and the standard reports as vertical markers on date-based charts.
AI referral domains
The following domains are included in the AI referral list:
- perplexity.ai
- chatgpt.com
- claude.ai
- gemini.google.com
- deepseek.com
- grok.x.ai
- search.brave.com
Sessions from these domains appear under the "AI Search" channel grouping in GA4 when the integration is active.
Troubleshooting
"Property ID not found" — confirm you entered the numeric Property ID (not the Measurement ID starting with G-).
No annotations appearing — check that the authorized Google account has at least Editor access on the GA4 property.
