Key Concepts

Core concepts behind GEO and Genlytic.

AI Share of Voice

Share of Voice (SoV) measures what percentage of AI responses in your tracked prompt set include your brand. A SoV of 40% means your brand appeared in 40% of all AI responses across all tracked prompts and engines.

Visibility Score

The Visibility Score is a 0–100 index that weights mentions by tier quality. Tier 1 mentions contribute 1.0, Tier 2 contribute 0.6, and Tier 3 contribute 0.3. The score is calculated as the weighted sum divided by the total number of prompt results, multiplied by 100. A score of 100 means your brand is the primary mention in every AI response.

Mention Quality

Mention Quality is a secondary score (0–100) that measures how prominent your mentions are among the scans where your brand appears. It weights Tier 1 at 100, Tier 2 at 50, and Tier 3 at 15, divided by total mentions.

Sentiment Score

The Sentiment Score is a 0–100 average over all scan results: positive responses score 100, neutral score 50, negative score 0. The score is an average across all results — not a sum. A score of 50 means the average response is neutral.

Prompt (vs keyword)

A prompt is a full natural-language question that a person would ask an AI engine — for example, "What analytics tools do Shopify stores use?" A keyword is a search term for traditional SEO. Prompts are longer, conversational, and intent-specific. Genlytic tracks prompts, not keywords.

Source Citation

A source citation is a third-party domain that an AI model references when answering a prompt. AI models do not cite your website directly — they cite sources that have written about your category. Getting cited on those sources increases your AI visibility.

GEO Agent Mission

A Mission is a plain-language goal you give the GEO Agent, such as "Increase visibility for comparison prompts to 60 by Q3." The Agent uses the mission to prioritize which opportunities to pursue and which actions to execute autonomously.

Scan Batch

A Scan Batch is one execution of all active prompts across all selected AI engines. Each prompt result in a batch records the full AI response, detected brand mentions, tier, sentiment, and cited sources. Batch IDs link all results from the same scan run.

Win Rate

Win Rate for a prompt is the percentage of scan results for that prompt where your brand appears at Tier 1 (primary mention). A win rate of 0% means your brand never appears as the primary recommendation for that prompt.
